COMMUNITY ISSUES

PUBLIC SAFETY

Explore adding more police substations in north Stockton, increasing patrols, and expanding youth activities and mentorship programs by working with federal, state and county partners to ensure appropriate funding levels for essential services - especially officers. We need to demand the police officers we were promised when voters approved Measure A to increase public safety. Beef up staffing and funding for the Office of Violence Prevention.

AS A FORMER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER YOUR SAFETY WILL ALWAYS COME FIRST.

HOMELESSNESS CRISIS

Homelessness. It’s a crisis.

I want an audit of where our money has been spent on homelessness services and how there could be modifications to make such programs more effective. I will work with our state and federal partners to increase funding for health care programs and awareness campaigns to connect at-risk individuals to care programs.

I support building affordable housing and the funding effective treatment services to aid those in need of medical and behavioral care services.

YOUTH SERVICES

As a retired probation officer, I discovered that strong families and proper role models are key to developing life goals at an early age. However, not all youths are fortunate to have stable backgrounds. That’s where mentorship and leadership programs become meaningful.

I support creating lasting partnerships between schools and industry as well as non-profit organizations. Developing goals early is impactful towards preparing our young residents for life.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

The recent audit of Stockton government spending and fiscal controls over such spending raise several issues of concern. Auditors found widespread internal control failures in Stockton's financial operations, including accounting errors, delayed reporting and weak oversight of millions of dollars in public funds.

I will support stricter safeguards to ensure such waste and mismanagement never happens again. These are your tax dollars, and I will guard your money. Previous wasteful practices are unacceptable.
